When it comes to animal portraits the range for one artist includes subjects alligators to parakeets to a prized black angus and this has been growing into a booming and highly specialized art business. He can paint something as minute and odd as a pet flea just as long as a high quality photograph of it is presented. But he drew the line by restricting himself to accommodate birds, dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, and one alligator.

His attention was drawn to creatures and the arts as a youngster. But, as many an artist knows it's pretty tough to make a living out of selling fine paintings, especially when one has to support a wife and youngster. He moved to the Bay Area and attempted to pursue a career in commercial art as he continued studying. During World War II he managed to start his own display business, meanwhile continuing his first love, fine art, as a hobby.

He made a portrait of a friend's siamese cats and this was when his wife suggested that he develop his hobby into a business as his work delighted even the cats that ended up almost destroying the painting by purring and rubbing against it. He went into the pet portrait painting business in earnest, with increasingly happy financial result.

Most recently he showed, some of his work at the cow palace. That prompted a shower of commissions to paint portraits of a champion rabbit, fine show horses, and even a pet parakeet whose owner fondly explained she had raised it from an egg. A well known television actor singer and recording artist requested him to create a portrait of his horse. The winning black angus was the subject of the portrait he was contracted to do. For him it is better than painting people portraits and his subjects do not usually kick.

From a big university in Santa Clara comes a new director of the gallery and museum and she was the former director of a big museum in San Jose and she assumed her post following a reverend who died early last month. Well known in the art world is what the new director is and she exhibited locally at the palace of the legion of honor and nationally as well.

There will be an exhibit at a gallery in San Francisco displaying the works of a local sculptor. It is in the exhibit where thirty of his works will be displayed and these will cover neo classical to highly abstracted forms. Aside from being a writer, photographer, and a highly talented artist, he also conducts a ballet school. Starring in the movie spectre of a rose is this man. A display will be extended in a famous museum and it will be exhibiting more than 200 objects, paintings, prints, books, and sculptures from a private collection.

There is a couple from Pennsylvania whose collection covers 50 years. It includes some of the works of more than a dozen famous painters, and scores of other historic greats. When it comes to collecting books the husband started when he was still a student of Harvard but he has been able to get his hands on many of the more valuable objects by buying them on installment.
